Reminder: July schedule changes + new videos + neuroscience resources

Good morning!

Thank you all for coming to class and continuing to practice with all the comings and goings of summer! Welcome back if you’ve been away for a bit – I’ve missed seeing you!

I’ll be traveling from July 20-29, so this newsletter gives you schedule, subbing, and combined class updates through Aug 7. Francisco will be here teaching Aug. 8 – Sept. 1. It’s a big deal since we haven’t seen him in person since January 2020, and we will all have multiple roles at Kaiut Yoga Boulder as teachers, students, subs, assistants, registrars, and equipment haulers. I’ll give you more information about all that when I know more, but for the most part I will be teaching my regular schedule.

If you are interested in signing up for anything, please click here.

July Schedule Changes

I will be out of town July 20-29, and August 5-7, so please be aware of the following:

Fri 7/15 at 10:30 am – Pop-Up Class

Mon 7/18 at 9am and 10:30am – Combined Classes at KYB.  This means I am subbing for Kristin on Monday morning at 9 and 10:30. You can still practice at the 10:30 time (or 9), but use the KYB link that day!

Thu 7/15 at 10:30 am – Pop-Up Class

All of my classes at KYB will have subs during that time.

Cancelled Zoom Classes:

  • Wed 7/20 at 10:30 am
  • Sat 7/23 at 9 am & 10:30am
  • Sun 7/24 at 8 am
  • Mon 7/25 at 10:30am
  • Tue 7/26 at 4:30pm
  • Wed 7/27 at 10:30am
  • Sat 8/6 at 9 am & 10:30 am
  • Sun 8/7 at 8 am

A word about the combined classes at KYB:  The camera setup is different at KYB and it takes some getting used to. You will not always see me, but I can always see you because we are working with 2-3 different monitors and cameras. Choose gallery view on zoom (my preference when I am a zoom student), or speaker view. Speaker view will show you a row of mats at the studio, which might or might not have people on them. I agree with some of you that it is NOT the best setup for beginners, but maybe you are not a beginner anymore and can trust your own listening skills. Let me know what you think!

Three new videos coming to Punchpass on Tuesday July 19!

The new classes will be 93, 95, and 100. If you want to keep going in the current trajectory, choose classes between 86-100.

Please remember that the content library is immediately available for anyone who purchases a monthly class pass through Punchpass. Monthly passes are available on a sliding scale to suit YOUR practice/travel/work schedules, and I always want to honor your commitment and assure you get the value you deserve!

When I grow up I wanna be a Neuroplastician!

Several of you mentioned that you really enjoyed Stolen Focus, so I have a few more favorites to share with you. Both of these authors, Norman Doidge and Wendy Suzuki, have multiple videos, TedTalks, and books, and are researchers in the field of Neuroplasticity. If you’ve ever wondered why and how Kaiut Yoga works the way it does, these resources might help your understanding. If you have to pick just one, go with The Brain That Changes Itself.

Wendy Suzuki, Good Anxiety and Healthy Brain, Happy Life

Thank you all!
