Solstice Days and Nights

Lots of subbing in December and a few Pop-Ups!

Hello Everyone!

The sparkly days and nights of the Solstice Season are upon us. I do enjoy the stark beauty of winter and the festive holiday lights, once I adapt to the cold, wind, and dark!

I will not be traveling until the end of January, and I am very happy to be spending more time teaching, practicing, planning for next year, and creating new content for the video library. I just posted a new class, free for everyone with a Punchpass login. Check it out!

Class 44 – Shoulder/upper back work w/legs up wall, pelvis elevated on bolster, plus foot/ankle work

I’m also super happy to give you an update about Wayne, Mom’s husband. He did incredibly well with his surgery on Nov. 18, and he is now back at home in north Georgia as of last Tuesday! Happy anniversary Mom and Wayne!

Interestingly, Francisco’s most recent topic for teachers’ continuing education is yoga practice before and after major surgeries. Yoga practice is a valuable tool in helping us to identify our emotional wellness needs, acclimate to our reality and that of our families and caregivers, and accommodate our new body and our necessities in a way that creates intimacy and safety, instead of isolation and fear. This is good stuff y’all! Check out Francisco’s blog, with three articles on this subject.

Schedule Through December

My teaching schedule through December includes a LOT of subbing in Boulder and Longmont starting the week of Dec. 19!

There will be no classes on Christmas Day, and no 4:30 class Tuesday Dec. 20. I will offer two additional Pop-Up Classes that week on 12/20 at 10:30 am, and Wed 12/21 at 4:30 pm.

The extra classes I am subbing are numerous and subject to change this month, so take a look at my schedule page for the latest updates.

Please note that classes at Kaiut Yoga Longmont are in person only, no zoom.

I am working to find a space rental, with the goal of holding at least one in-person/zoom class per week and a monthly workshop. I am hoping to secure this space in time for a New Year’s Day special class/workshop. I will send another newsletter out in a week or two with more details as things unfold!

Resources and References

I want to keep this book listed here as an important resource for understanding and improving metabolic health: Why We Get Sick: The Hidden Epidemic at the Root of Most Chronic Disease–and How to Fight Itby Dr. Benjamin Bikman. In this work, a scientist reveals the groundbreaking evidence linking many major diseases, including cancer, diabetes, and Alzheimer’s disease, to a common root cause—insulin resistance—and shares an easy, effective plan to reverse and prevent it.

This book was given as part of our Kaiut Yoga teaching training. I highly recommend it for anyone who is curious about newly emerging metabolic science, or who wants to improve upon: brain fog and focus, joint inflammation, relationship to food and eating, mood, and addictions and cravings. You can easily find it at local bookstores, Audible, Amazon etc. Dr. Ben Bikman also has lots of YouTube videos, so here is a short introduction.
