Hello and Autumn Greetings!
The last few weeks have definitely been full of surprises and changes! I have been putting off writing this email for a few weeks now as plans have been shifting and finally settling again. I am awestruck by the cyclical nature of everything. With some luck and diligence, we can learn how to do things better, more kindly, and with greater perspective as we encounter situations again and again in our lives. It is that spiral that I love so much, that exists prolifically in nature and in our bodies.
I had a little fun while I was procrastinating! Please enjoy a little mathematical trip down the rabbit hole with this deeply nerdy TEDTalk exploring the Fibonacci sequence, the golden ratio which maps the spiral you see above. Coolest fact: falcons make a spiral down to their prey. The falcon follows a spiral to its objective, on the exact same path as this fossil ammonite above!
The falcon’s flight path of least resistance that allows full view of their prey at all times is the same spiral that creates….so many things! Eyes on the prize, as the saying goes!
Changes and Future Musings
1) I will be going to Georgia Oct. 11-22 to help my mom (Jackie Brown!) who many of you know from zoom classes. Mom’s husband, Wayne, will be home from the hospital after surgery, undergoing treatments for throat cancer. I will try to keep the zoom classes going, with a few exceptions:
Zoom classes are canceled on Tuesday Oct. 11 and Saturday Oct. 22. I will teach one zoom class on Saturday Oct. 15 at 9 am MDT. I might add 1-2 pop-up classes during this time, but I need to get there and assess. You can view the updated schedule from the links below.
There will be subs at Kaiut Yoga Boulder on the two Saturdays that I am gone, and I hope to resume teaching those Saturday classes there on my return.
2) The Kaiut Yoga Boulder teaching schedule was changed effective September 26, so I am no longer teaching there on Wednesdays. I will continue to teach the Saturday classes for now. This is a disappointment, but I believe it will change again, hopefully for the better. I have much to give, and I want to be teaching more – within the structure I need to do my best work: focused, efficient, intelligent use of my time.
3) There are two new videos added to the content library, free to everyone with a Punchpass login. Class 58 – Structure, mobility, strength and function for hips and pelvis! And Class 36 – A variety of shapes and angles of stimulation for pelvis and leg structures.
4) I have a few additional projects in the works to utilize that precious focus time I have been giving to KYB! I will be requesting your feedback for these things via an email survey, so please stay tuned! I am planning to make a new batch of sandbags, pre-order only. I will be opening up some time for private sessions, and probably adding an additional class time or two. I am revisiting rental spaces for some 2-hour classes/workshops, probably once per month over the winter. I foresee these being mostly for the in-person experience, but I will explore the zoom option for folks out of town if there is interest.
In many ways, this is all very similar to everything that happened in 2018-2019. But, thanks to that ever-bettering spiral, I am in a much better place with all of it! I hope you are too!
Thank you for reading this, thank you for showing up, thank you for practicing!
