Greetings Friends and Family!
Here we are approaching the end of 2022 and the Winter Solstice. You made it, again! Good job!
I have a mixed relationship with this time of year. It can be an unsettling “shoulder season” when some of our deeper emotional patterns show up and we very clearly feel ourselves in the in between, in the twilight. If you get a little stir-crazy, anxious about the holiday season, or feel cooped-up and frustrated – you are not alone! The yoga practice definitely helps with all that, so thank you all for showing up and practicing with me!
This year I feel all that. But at the same time I am experiencing a huge boost in creativity, energy, and focus. Some of that renewed, focused energy is definitely coming from a new kind of metabolic understanding I have, inspired by this book: Why We Get Sick: The Hidden Epidemic at the Root of Most Chronic Disease–and How to Fight It, by Dr. Benjamin Bikman. In this work, a scientist reveals the groundbreaking evidence linking many major diseases, including cancer, diabetes, and Alzheimer’s disease, to a common root cause—insulin resistance—and shares an easy, effective plan to reverse and prevent it.
This book was given as part of our Kaiut Yoga teaching training. I highly recommend it for anyone who is curious about newly emerging metabolic science, or who wants to improve upon: brain fog and focus, joint inflammation, relationship to food and eating, mood, and addictions and cravings. You can easily find it at local bookstores, Audible, Amazon etc. Dr. Ben Bikman also has lots of YouTube videos, so here is a short introduction.
Schedule Through November
Teaching schedule is normal, with a few exceptions:
1) Subbing at KYB Mon 11/14, 4:30 pm MST
More subbing ahead in December!
2) Time Change (one-day only) for this Wed, 11/16, 8:30 am MST
There is part of an ongoing training with Francisco taking place during our regular class time on this one day.
3) Pop-Up Class Thursday 11/17, 10:30 am MST
In case you can’t make the Wed class at 8:30 am, I am adding this one this week.
4) Thanksgiving Day Class, 11/24, 9-10 am MST
Referrals and Recommendations
If you have dropped out of the practice a bit due to a busy summer, please drop me a note and let me know how you are doing! You are missed! Please let me know what you might need to get started again.
I really appreciate all your referrals to friends and family, as my practice grows by word of mouth. For instance, Mom brought her friend Bernice to class on Halloween! As you can see in these photos below, Bernice needed a lot of support to help with those achey joints, and we all had a really great class! It is never too late to start taking a step in a more positive direction for your health, even for Bernice!
Thank you all! with love, Michelle
